Christmas is always a very busy time of year for the band, but 2017 seems to have been a particularly busy one.
The beginning of a uniform change was brought in, with updated ties now a part of our uniform. The new ties feature diagonal stripes of grey and purple, which was introduced as it will be worn by our training band in the future. The grey and purple is now reflected on our website as well as our Twitter and Facebook cover images.
December opened up with a concert at Kirkheaton URC and a joint performance of Joy To The World alongside guest vocalist Paul Holroyd. This venue is always very popular, and the people of Kirkheaton didn’t let us down as the band played to a full house!
Another annual event that we are proud to support is Kirkwood Hospice’s Light Up A Life event, which you can read more about here. On the 6th December, Grange Moor held its first Carols Around The Tree event. Unfortunately for the band, it was one of the windier days of the month, with the elements making it incredibly difficult to play. However, we overcame the adversity to keep entertaining the crowd! It marked the first time playing in front of a crowd for many of our training band members. We hope the people of Grange Moor had an enjoyable evening.
We were invited to Gomersal twice this December, playing at St. Mary’s Church on the 9th and again at Little Gomersal’s Carols Around The Tree event – which had to be on one of the coldest days of the Winter! The photos below are from the concert at St. Mary’s Church.
Finally, a group of the band went out playing carols on some free evenings. Thank you to all who supported the band during all our events across Winter.
