Grange Moor Brass Band are pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Jazwinski as their next Music Director. He succeeds Matt Asher, who stepped down from the role after the 2018 Christmas period due to an increase in work and personal commitments. The band would like to take this opportunity to thank Matt for his time and work with the band in 2018.
About Alan Jazwinski
Alan began playing the trumpet at the age of 8 years and was taught by Edgar Whitham, a peripatetic brass teacher employed by the local authority. When he was 12 years of age, he joined Edgar’s Huddersfield Youth Brass Ensemble and 3 years later became soprano cornet player with the band.
He is now the secretary and instrumental tutor of the Huddersfield Youth Brass Ensemble Association, musical director of their youth band and soprano cornet player for Huddersfield & Ripponden Brass.
Alan was previously a member of Hebden Bridge Band in the early 1970s and the West Yorkshire Police Band from 1987 until 1998. He re-joined the band in 2010 and is now their deputy musical director.
In 2000, Alan achieved a BA (Hons) in Band Studies. He is a Director of the Yorkshire Brass Band Championships Limited and is the Chief Steward for their annual regional championships weekend in Huddersfield.
Alan is a retired police officer but is now a primary school teacher, currently employed by Kirklees Council. He has two sons and two grandchildren. One son plays

Grange Moor Brass Band was founded in 1854 and celebrates its 165th anniversary of entertaining Yorkshire in 2019. A non-contesting band, they rehearse in their own band room each Sunday night.
The band has a loyal following with many popular concerts held throughout the year.
