Last weekend saw the band perform their annual Spring concert at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Grange Moor. The band had decided to produce a TV theme tune concert with highlights being birthday girl Louise Belton’s performance in Hetty Wainthrop Investigates and the powerful percussion in Game Of Thrones! The crowd-pleasing Soul Bossa Nova also featured a solo from Pete Rhodes on flugelhorn – despite it being a film theme, rather than music from a TV show. Quieter moments were provided by Psalm 23 from The Vicar Of Dibley and the opening to Inspector Morse, with the glockenspiel providing the familiar morse code throughout.
The concert also featured Grange Moor Brass Band’s full Youth Training Band for the first time, with music from Postman Pat, The Flintstones and Blackadder as well as Dad’s Army closing the first half.
